Dual Speed SFPs in 6850

Post by devnull »

I try using a Dual Speed SFP in a 6850-P48L for connecting media converter (range and "no metal to the roof" matters).

So i bought two SFP-DUAL-MM but i do not get it to work:

Put into combo port 2 & for for connecting a cisco2960 (Port 1/2 1000full) and the Media Converter Port 4 (100full)

Running a 6.4.3 which should support that.

interfaces 1/2 hybrid FORCED-FIBER
interfaces 1/4 hybrid fiber speed 100

I get no link neither to the cisco nor to the media converter, switched RX/TX of the cable, no luck.

Any hints?

Seems to have been an error on my side.

On sfp on the remote side (Cisco) was defect, and i had rx/tx wrong (which i did not know because of the broken sfp).

So i can now state:
Dual sfps work as expected.
"interfaces 1/4 hybrid fiber speed 100"
should put it in 100fx mode
speed 1000 (default) is for LX.

And remember LX 1310nm is not visible as it is with 850nm SX Modules.

Good safety tip!

and remember kids, dont get looking down the fibre to see if you can see light at 1310nm, it will burn yout retina and cause blind spots!!! :-)
