Answer machine not working correctly on SLI board
Answer machine not working correctly on SLI board
I have a strange issue whereby you have an analogue phone plugged directly into the port of an OXE, common hardware. Phone the extension and this works fine. If I take an answer machine (for example a BT response 75 unit) and plug it in it does not answer the call. If I plug an analogue phone off the back of it, the analogue phone rings but when you lift the reciever it does not answer the call.
If you plug just the analogue phone in it answers when you lift the reciever. Plug the answer machine into a direct exchange line and the answerphone works perfectly fine with or without an analogue phone on it.
I then took the common hardware and plugged into an OXO and the answer machine does not answer the call, but I can pick up the call from the analogue set plugged into the answerphone. Interesting.
Anyone have any ideas? Any frequency settings?

I also have a customer who uses answering machines as VM, not sure how he made it but can ask.

Hello,
I am just curious, when you tested the answering machine, the call was internal or external? Because the ring cadence is different for internal and external calls. One is shorter, and maybe this is the reason why is not working.
I had this issue with a fax machine and had to modify the ring tone.
Regards.

Hi,
I think i already had this problem on the past. As far i can remeber, the problem is related with the ringing voltage. Measure the ringing voltage on a SLI and on a crystal Z board, and in case the voltage diference is considerable, ask to the answer machine support what should be the expected ringing voltage.
As far as i know the OXE ringing values are complaint with the norm’s, and there is no way to increase it (in case of SLI), anyway if it is the case you can open a tickt at Alcatel to check this possibility.
Regards.

Hi,
Anybody has found a solution for this issue? we have a similar problem with an elevator intercom, I've checked the voltage in SLIs and it is 28V, the intercom needs 48V to operate correctly, I checked the voltage in a Z24 and it is 48V, as it should be....
The ring voltage is correct, 96-100V, we have rechecked all the parameters in the SLI, but didn't found a way to change the voltage. Tomorrow I'll try to find out if there is any hidden jumper on the board...
If somebody has new information, please share it! Thanks in advance.
