Issue with Backup restore

Post by sandy_shy2006_DUP »

Hi..

I am trying to restore the backup for Rel 7.1 database to Rel 8.0 but during the process get the below error Message:-

gunzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
cpio: premature end of file

ERROR: Restoration failed
ERROR: a problem occured during data restoration
Press return

*******************************************************************
* The restoration for mao, voice guides and accounting, all files *
* failed, please retry *
*******************************************************************
Press return

I cannot figure out why the restoration cannot be completed and where the issue is???

Regards,

Sandeep

Try to load first 7.1 to your system and restore the database. Then load 8.0 on inactive partition, translate the database, swtich to inactive, load the OPS for R8.0

Again, what does this has to do with hardware?

Hey Cav,

I agree with those guys.. This is a beginner's question.
It does not matter how many posts the guy has. You can have 100 posts, and still be a beginner.
Remember, we welcome everybody. If you don't like what they say, don't answer.

Also, don't lock topics please.. Thanks

2 suggestions:

- Usually, this type of error message means that the backup is corrupted. You should try again.
- Also, try to use IMMEDIATE BACKUP instead or the backup that you can find in /usr4/BACKUP/DAY

Thanks

Oh yes, what I ask is to post in correct section, this is a software/configuration question, not hardware.

Frank is right.

The right process should be as follows:
Use swinst to do an immediate backup to CPU disk.

Then on your ftp app, set the transfer to binary mode.

Then transfer the mao which is on your R7.1 from the /usr4/backup/IMMED.

Next step is to install your linux using swinst and the OmniPCX installer.

Then install the correct deliveries and patch again using swinst and the OmniPCX installer.

After this is done just copy the mao to the /usr4/backup/IMMED folder again in binary mode and then use swinst and choose the restore immediate backup from CPU disk option. Then just load and restore your OPS & it will work 100%.
