Hi,
An external voice mail is been integrated with the OmniPCX Alcatel 4400, where the hotel feature is activated on the room telephones.
The voice mail system that is been intergrated is Quintet 4.2.1, its a software running on a PC with a PCI dialogic card installed on it.
Basically 4 analog extension is provided for the voice mail system to communicate with the PABX. Everything works fine on some extensions but not on all extensions.
and i came to know it was the guest rooms having problem.
When no answer on the guest room - it passes to the respective voice mail box for the caller to leave the message.
After a new voice mail is recieved on the extension, the MWI light flashes as an indication.
To access the voice mail my PABX prefix is #98.
when i dial this prefix on the guest room phones - it ignores, meaning no busy tone no diconnection tone, after the prefix input it goes to normal internal dial tone.
In admin extensions i am able to check the voice mail with the voice mail access prefix. works fine.
Then i started to see whats the difference:
ISDN User
External + True
Internal + True
ay ext. calling number + True
ISDN Teleservice + Phone
Hotel-Set Operation + Room
Use Type Of Dir. No. + Normal
Number Of Set Users : 1
Multi-line station + NO
Dialed number masked + NO
Routing Table : 0
Associated Videophone + False
(Very Important Pers.) + False
Istant Directory Number : 103
Calls Priority : 0
PCBT Associated + NO
Urgent Call + NO
As higlighted above in guest room user configuration the Hotel-Set Operation is set as "Room".
We have an option to change it to "house" or "administrative".
When i change the guest rooms extension to "administrative" - as Hotel-Set Operation, the voice mail works fine. Everthing runs smoothly.
BUT - the alcatel is interfaced with a PMS (Maestro) and there is this hotel feature which cannot be used anymore when i change the guest rooms to administrative:
feature ie:
#42 + 1 to ATTEND
+ 3 to OCCUPY
+ 4 to VACANT
+ 5 to INSPECT
I am not very familiar with the hotel feature on ALCATEL system. so i have kept the guest room extensions Hotel-Set Operation as "Room".
Can anyone tell me whats happening here?
And how can i overcome this? and let the guest rooms use the voice mail features?
Regards,
Hassan

I can check voice mails for the Administrative Extensions with this prefix, but cannot check voice mail for Guest Extensions (Extension = Rooms).
How can i allow guest rooms (Extension with Hotel-Set-Operatio as ROOM) to check his voice mails?
Thanks

Re: External VoiceMail Integration - Hotel-Room Feature Conflict
Hello,
First of all - let me tell you, my voice mail setup is done - its working to the admin extensions.
It works to guest room extensions too, atleast 1/2 it works, when guest room phone no answer - it is passed to my voice mail, my voice mail answers - tells the caller that the guest is not in the room, please leave a msg... when the caller leaves msg and hangs up. On th phone the msg light (MWI) indicates there is a voice mail on this guest room extension, BUT the guests are not able to check their voice mails. The key programmed or the prefix is not working on the guest room extensions.
And the only parameter that lets me check the voice mail on guest room extension is changing the Hotel-Set-Operation from ROOM to ADMINISTRATIVE.
This conflicts with the Hotel Operations on the guest room phones, but lets my voice mail function properly on the extension.
My guest room extensions:
Phone Feature COS: 1
Connection COS: 2
Public Network COS: 0
My admin extensions:
Phone Feature COS: 0
Connection COS: 0
Public Network COS: 2
I have tried changing the same on the guest room extensions, But didnt help me.
Any idea to do this without changing the Hotel-Set-Operation?
Thanks

Re: External VoiceMail Integration - Hotel-Room Feature Conflict
The voicemail only works in rooms when the room is occupied. ( checked in )
