Old 4200e 2nd hand

Post by shanden »

Hi, We have an old hybrex system which supports only3 lines & 8 handsets. We have a number of new staff and are tossing up if we should go VOIP but have to wait for about 12 months until our existing service provider contract expires. I need to upgrade our system urgently to about 12 handsets and 4 incoming lines. I came across a 2nd hand Alcatel 4200e complete system for $900 AUD. Cheaper than 3 new handsets on the Hybrex. It includes the following 1 x 4200e with 1 x CM1 card, 1 x AC card, 1 x TLC4 card, 1 x T2 card, 1 x SLC8 & Slc4 cards & 2 x DLC16/1 cards and 18 handsets. . I have tried to find out what this system will do but can't find out much on the net. I beleive it will support 4 incoming lines but not sure what the other cards do. Could someone tell me what each card is capable of and if this system would suit 12 users & 4 incoming lines. Does it have messaging, music on hold, support analogue service such as fax / modems. I know I will need a programmer to set it up but once it is set up is it difficult to manage. Do I need a dedicted PC to manage it. Is it worth getting this or do I get something else. Not sure what system I could get for $900 AUD that would suit our requiremnts.

Love to hear from someone.

The system will suit your requirements

The cards in order do the following

AC & CM-1 - control cards
DLC16 - Digital handset card (16 ports)
SLI8/4 - Analogue handset card (8/4 ports respectively)
T2 - ETSI ISDN card for up to 30 channels
TLC4 - Analogue trunk line card (4 lines)

Things to check

That the cards have the necessary connectors in them for attaching the tails these would be akward to source now so important to check

Check the CM card to see if it has a feature key/dongle at the top of the card which allows 'Automatic route selection' can be useful.

Other than that no real issues the system is good if somewhat old, spares would be an issue but if only for 12 monts not to much of a worry
When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.
