Is it possible to take a phone out of service from another phone?
We have tried substitution and tried to *79 (out of service) but it says Feature rejected.
The phones to be taken out of service are digital phones.
I know this can be done from 4760, but I need to find a way we can tell users to do this as for emergency site moves. So we need to be able to take phones out of service and move the numbers around in an instant as no-one will have access to 4760 or the room with the original phones.
Hope this makes sense
Regards
Thanks guys for your support!

Re: Remote Out of Service function
*79 is a feature and as such, users must be allowed to use it. So using your 4760, look at the Phone Facility Category for the users and you will see 'set in/out service'. Turn it on there and users will be able to use the *79 feature.

Re: Remote Out of Service function
All of our phones on site can *79 and take out of service, but this feature connot be used from a substitution. ie sialling *76 then ext number, pin number, then *79. We can seem to set diverts ok but taking a handset out of service doesnt seem possible.
Is the setting you are suggesting applicable to substituted telephones? I dont know if I did write my question correctly.

Sorry - I should have read your first properly
AFAIK - it is not possible to remotely 'out of service' an extension. Only from 4760. You can just imagine all the phones going out of service where there are too many pranksters!
