OS6860N - Port VFL

Post by fripouille »

Hello,

I've read some documentation on the OS6860N-U28 but I'm not sure if it's possible to stack two switches installed in two different rooms using a QSFP-40G-SR GBIC.
I think I've read that forming a stack using a 10Gig Gbic is no longer possible with this model of switch as it was with the old 6860E model.
I saw in the datasheet that the dedicated VFL port is a 100G QSFP+, hence my question as to whether the QSFP-40 is compatible or not...

Can you clarify this for me so that I can order the correct part numbers?
Thank you.

Laetitia.

You find the answer in the transciver guide. QSFP-40G-SR is supported in the 6860N-U28.

Yes, I saw that, but can we use it on the VFL port to form the stack?

if I remember correct, than this ports are dedicated to use as VFL (is standing in the specs guide). And the 40G SFP are only fitting in this switch in this ports.... so this has to be for VFL.
