We are an hotel and in the more recent rooms with ethernet cabling the company managing the PBX installed Alcatel 8028 phones.
Few months ago, we noticed that a first phone become unusable. It was presumably locked by a guest and required a code to make non-emergency calls. We tried several standard codes (0000, 000000, 1234, 123456...) but none of them worked. As far as we understood, it was not the standard code for the device model as per the manual, because a non-standard code had been set by the central system, which we did not know. We asked the PBX manager what the code was. The PBX manager claims to have tried everything without success, including reinstalling the firmware, but the phone only starts in SIP mode and is no longer usable in Alcatel mode. They have presented us with a bill of €720 (7 hours of work, travel, and replacement of the phone with a new device).
Now another phone present a similar or identical problem. It asks for the "user password". This means we have to replace also this phone? It is possible that there is no way to factory reset the phone o reset these passwords or to prevent our guests to set a password?
Thanks for any help.
