Loading CS3 via SOT

Loading a new HD with R101 (Purple) via SOT onto an existing CS3.

New hard drive boots up, throws out some DHCP requests and then gives the following:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.

Then continually loops the whole process again and again.

SOT configured correctly and using latest ver (3.2) etc etc

Tried using PC Installer to load R10 (just as a test) and still the same response from the HD.

Single NIC on PC (no wireless), connected to CS3 both directly and via a basic, unmanaged switch.

Any ideas, am I missing something very basic? Surely the new HD should boot from ethernet as a default shouldn't it?

Says to me the Hard Drive hasnt been installed on the CS correctly nothing to do with software at this stage

I'd point to hard drive within the board. make sure all pins are correctly connected.
