Stellar Meshed deployment speed question

Hello guys,
Let me start by saying that we are not experienced with mesh deployments with this being the actual first time we needed to use it!

We have this site where we were forced to use a mesh deployment instead of having a cable for every AP.
The guys got it to work just fine (with all meshed APs showing in the cluster and all) but the performance starts to degrade after being a few APs away from the root.
On one particular floor, we have 4 daisy-chained APs (root-leaf1-leaf2-leaf3) and the report is that the speed is almost cut in half for every level you move away from the root AP so you get like 400Mb-200Mb-100Mb-50Mb.

Is this how it's supposed to work and we are trying to solve a problem that's not there, or, is there an issue here and we need to log a SR with ALE?
All APs are in the latest version (4.0.8.16), the backhaul is 5G and not 2.4G, APs have good line-of-sight, users are roaming perfectly between APs so there's no sticky client happening, ping responses are excellent and there is no packet loss whatsoever!
