How to determine if a VLAN is still in use?

Post by hg363 »

Hi can someone please tell me how on Alcatel 6450-P48 switches determine if a VLAN is still in use?

And if this cant be done from a 6450 then can it be done from the core (6900 Switch)

Check if they are assigned to any ports and those ports are active.

It will be tricky if they are assigned to trunk ports and that port is active, then you will check the network device that is connected to that trunk port to see if that vlan is in use.

If you have an NMS 2500, it will list the Vlans on a device and whether they are active or not. But as I said, it will be tricky if vlans are assigned to trunk port.

I hope that helps.
