Stacking Ports not showing up

Post by mciantar »

Hi,

We are having an issue similar to what is mentioned in the post here: https://www.alcatelunleashed.com/viewtopic.php?t=22815

We have a working stack with 6 devices. We came to add 2 more which were previously a stack by themselves (1-2). When we add either of them, the physical interfaces do not show up.

We have tested with a brand new switch and we were able to join it to the stack without any trouble.

Show Stack Topology Looks fine (even though I do not understand why it is showing StackA and StackB)

Code: Select all

-> show stack topology

                                         Link A  Link A          Link B  Link B
NI Role State Saved Link A Remote Remote Link B Remote Remote
                          Slot State NI Port State NI Port
----+-----------+--------+------+-------+-------+-------+-------+-------+-------
   1 PRIMARY RUNNING 1 UP 2 StackB UP 7 StackA
   2 SECONDARY RUNNING 2 UP 3 StackB UP 1 StackA
   3 IDLE RUNNING 3 UP 4 StackB UP 2 StackA
   4 IDLE RUNNING 4 UP 5 StackA UP 3 StackA
   5 IDLE RUNNING 5 UP 4 StackA UP 6 StackA
   6 IDLE RUNNING 6 UP 5 StackB UP 7 StackB
   7 IDLE RUNNING 7 UP 1 StackB UP 6 StackB

But show NI for the non working stack switch shows the following:

Code: Select all

-> show ni 7

The problematic switch is connected to 6/52.

Any recommendation on how to resolve this issue?

Re: Stacking Ports not showing up

Have you build-in the xni-u2 module with power-down of the switch? the NI-7 does not show any uboot/miniboot version. Maybe you need to update them? Have you tested both the new devices (ni7 and ni8) together without connection to the old stack? Is this working? Sometimes it helps to reboot the whoole stack.
your output of show stack topology means f.e. slot5 stack-port B is connected to slot6 port A, 6B to 7B, 7A to 1B etc.
Best regards
