Using show configuration snapshot command

Post by CristinaSP »

Hi,

In OS6450 switches, in a configuration with three switches in stack, when I type show configuration snapshot, I get no results.
But If I download (by FTP) the boot.cfg file, the configuration is there.

If I type other specific commands as for example show configuration snapshot vlan, I get results.

Do you know what can be the issue?

Hi,
normally it should work. I have seen the same error some days ago at a 6860. There a reload was the solution.
I thing "show configuration snapshot all" didn't work too?

Hello,

I also tried the "show configuration snapshot all" and neither work.
In addition I tough the same: reload should be the solution and I have collected a back-up of the files on OS6450 switch.
But technicians onsite has not yet been able to implement the physical reboot and we with an spare part of three OS (for the stack) to perform the reboot.

I will update here if something is recovered after a physical reboot. I have not tried a remote reboot per avoid any risk. Do you recommend it?

Yes, I have done it very very often successfully. Be sure that the config is certified and synchronized. And always use "reload working no rollback-timeout". For more security you can also use "reload working rollback-timeout 15". If you have access to the switch (after the reload) you have to use the command "reload cancel". Otherwise the switch will make a reload again after 15 minutes. This command is espcally for the reload after loading a new image into working. If the new image is damaged the switch will automacly reboot from the old one.
With some very old software (it was in 6.6.3) there was a problem with the flash. After the reload the switches couldn't start normaly. You needed to recover them in this case from usb. But if you have normal access to the flash, can do all copy commands etc there than there will be no problem.
