Redirect to VoIP GW

Post by ncruz »

Hi all!

Great forum you have here :)

I'm trying to integrate my voip infrastruture with an alcatel 4400 R2.1 (yeah i know, it's really old)

My VoIP extensions are 5xxxxx and 6xxxxx I have 4 BRI's connected to the alcatel 4400 on BRA couplers, 2 of thoose BRI's are for outgoing and 2 for incoming.
They are configured as simple users for the alcatel using S0 interfaces, and now everything works for the outgoing (voip->pbx) users on voip simply dial the number and i route it outside via 4400, but for the incoming the users have to call an extension (that corresponds to one of those 4 BRIs) and dial the voip extension number.
The users on the PBX are 1xxx and 2xxx.

Now comes the hardpart (for me at least), i was trying to integrate both dialplans and what i was thinking was for when users dial 5xxxx or 6xxxxx the calls are transfered to those BRI interfaces. Now i can think about 2 ways to do that:

1) Act the same way as when someone wants do dial outside (press 0 and the number),for this people would dial for example 4 and then dial the voip number 5xxxxx or 6xxxxx

2) Do some kind of trunk that allows users to dial 5xxxxx or 6xxxxx and then the 4400 calls the number via that interfaces, so on the called party the number is 5xxxxx or 6xxxxx i think this is called DID (or maybe not).

I think number 2 is the better option, but i don't know how to do both the options so i would be very happy if either 1 or 2 worked :)

I'm only working with the alcatel for 3 days and have found the documentation on the russian site (thanks to this forum!) and found that has something to do with trunks groups and translator but can't manage how to do it...

Thank you all!!

Hi there,

I am not sure I understand very well your configuration... but it seems that the best way would be to use the default translator..

Translator / External dialing plan / Default translator

Just try to play with this. Save your database first in case your fucked up everything :-) I have to run now, but I can write back later on and give you more info on this.

That's another problem, there's no backup... I already made a tar of the /DHS3data dir but i'm afraid that if something blows up there's no way of getting the pbx to the current state, maybe if that happened they would upgrade it :>

I don't have the /usr4/BACKUP/DAY the /DHS3data points to /usr3. The /usr4/BACKUP only has some old dirs.

I don't have that external dialing plan on my translator (i'm using mgr to manage it) i have the preffix plans and the suffix plans, numbering plan etc..

Thanks for all the help!!

login as mtcl, then type swinst at the prompt. you should be able to do a BACKUP ON THE CPU DISK (do both OPS and DATABASE). You will find the OPS in /usr4/BACKUP/OPS , and the database in /usr4/BACKUP/IMMED

It only has save to floppy, doesn't have save to cpu disk... Maybe because this is a really old release...

Any ideas on how to do the redirect on this release?

Now i have 4 ISDN BRIs connected to a PC using isdn cards

I was thinking on spliting them, some for in and some for out, on the side of the pc (asterisk) it's easy of doing that i only have to route calls for outside via 2 of thoose BRIs and route to voip (answer the calls) calls incoming from the other two, so my problem now is how to tell to the 4400 that it has to route all calls to numbers started with 5 or 6 to 2 of thoose BRIs.

I don't i can call them trunks yet :P as they for the 4400 as now are simply isdn users... They have numbers from 1900 to 1908..

Thanks!
