Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
Hello,
I was told that an analogue extension can make a call by just going off hook. I would be grateful if someone could give a few tips.
Omni 4400 R.6
Thank you.
Kyle
ps I did a search, but it is difficult to search things like "off hook" and "dial". You get lots of results.

Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
I'm taking a guess here - you are not technically trained on the OXE right?

Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
i think your feature is "Hotline"
please search it.haha
Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
You need to manage in phone facilities categories this feature ,
to assign this category to user and to enter number , to which user need dial.

Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
Hum interesting, i did search for "HotLine" and no post came up showing how to configure it, so tadaxi, about what do you laught at? Can you show us the post?
I can understand a piss off, a claim for searching (which he seemed to do but without success) but not laughing.
Every time i argue on a poster about a not reading is because i did the job of searching before and be sure that in the forum (at least) is something to read or be sure he didn't even read the documentation or try to search it. So again, please be carefull with your posts. haha on you.

Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
Thank you for the warm welcome.
Answers to questions:
Technically Trained? I want you to look at your left thumb. It would know more than the dude who ran the training course I went on. So, trained:- a little; ignorant:- possibly.
Search. Try search on analog and analogue. Plenty of results. Mosty about trunks. I have no analogue trunks. Try search on "immediate dial", "dial when off hook" and the likes. Not a lot of joy.
So thanks to helpful person to tell me it is called HOTLINE.
Search on HOTLINE. Not a lot of joy.
If you want me to leave, let me know. As I said this forum rocks. If you knew our tech support contractor and their attitude, you might understand my desire to know more.

Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
I apologize for Knight, we are used to fight agaisnt lazy users, but seems he got wrong with you. shame on you Knight! KITT will be very disappointed on you. lol.
I just realize i don't know how to configure a damn analog hotline neither, lol. yes, laught, i agree
can configure a Genesys, an OTUC, an ACD, a switch, a wireless, etc etc but not a hotline....
Right now doesn't have documentation on the hand so no way to search.
I know what you mean with trainers without the good knowledge, i have past from that too.
Tomorrow (or better said later) at my office will try to search and post something unless somebody else post a more detailed procedure.

Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
Hotline search in R4.2 docs comes back with details below hope this helps.
Overview
Automatic off-hook dialing enables a set to directly call a predefined number when picked up. This dialing can be:
delayed: the automatic call is made when a timer elapses, if no number is dialed,
immediate: the automatic call is made as soon as the handset is picked up (at off-hooking).
Special cases:
set "specialized" for ) incoming calls: the set cannot be used to make calls, it can only receive calls. There is no dialing. When off hooked, the busy tone is heard on the set.
dialing on external alarm. (see module Management of system messages, General information). Off hooking (closing an alarm loop) generates an incident.
Other special cases:
A set with "immediate forwarding" (see module Associated set, General information), when off-hooked without dialing, can be routed to the "forwarded-to" set after a timer.
A set with delayed (or immediate) off-hook dialing, when no routing table has been selected, will be routed to its associate set (see module Call forwarding and overflow, General information).
Management
Principle
To implement this feature:
select the type of routing to be used when the set is off hooked,
declare one or more routing tables,
assign a routing table to the corresponding sets,
declare routing on immediate forwarding for set forwarding management, if required,
Selecting routing type used when the set is off-hooked
Routing type is configured in the set's Phone facilities category.
Object name: Categories > Phone Facilities Categories
Attributes:
Tel.Feature Category Id
:
Enter category number.
Routing Mode At Off Hook
:
Select
Delay Routing: for the set to be routed to a number after a timer when off hooked.
Direct Routing: for the set to be routed to a number as soon as it is off hooked.
Specialized incoming: so that the set cannot be used to make a call and is only authorized to receive calls.
NO Routing : the set is not routed when off hooked.
External Alarm: for off-hooking (loop closed) to generate an incident.
Declaring a routing table
A call number has a corresponding routing table (also identified by a number).
Reminder: Routing tables only concern sets declared with immediate or delayed routing.
Object name: Specific Telephone Services > Routing Table
Attributes:
Routing No.
:
Enter the number of the routing table (select a number between 1 and 255).
Call number
:
Enter a call number. This number can be:
the number of a set,
the number of a hunt group,
an attendant call number,
a feature prefix,
an abbreviated (speed dial) number.
Assigning a routing table to a user
A routing table is associated with each set declared with immediate or delayed routing (i.e.dialing).
Object name: Users
Attributes:
Directory Number
:
Enter the directory number of the set.
Routing table
:
Enter the number of the routing table. Reset to zero, this attribute declares no routing table for the user concerned.
Routing with immediate forwarding
Reminder: This is a particular type of automatic off-hook dialing/routing. Re-routing is performed when a timer elapses.
Object name: System
Attributes:
Rout.On Immediate Forward.
:
Select True so that in the event of immediate forwarding, the set will be routed (when off-hooked) to the forwarded-to set after a timer.
Timers
The timer used for automatic off-hook dialing is timer n°2 (default value: 3 seconds).
The timer used for the special case of a set with immediate forwarding is timer n°20 (default value 12 seconds).
Operation
Unhook.
Depending on the type of routing selected, the user is:
forwarded to another number (immediately or after a timer),
free to number (dial) or not.

Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
I asked a simple question and even put a 'smiley' after it (currently the only way to convey emotion via textual medium). Now if you want to take offence then thats your call. The reason I was asking is that you don't say what experience you have on the product in your intro (see 'Outside World forum'). Was your training 'end user admin' training or proper Alcatel technical training? If your answer was 'end user admin' or 'none' than your post was going to be moved to the relevant forum. Plain & simple!882seu4me wrote:Thank you for the warm welcome.

Also, as in many previous posts, you are advised to perform a search in the sys docs (available via link from the Main homepage of this site). As Suproutage kindly points out, you would have hit the jackpot via that route.
Now lets go back to the original question and leave my left thumb out of the equation for now, technically trained or not? If you were technically trained and the trainer was useless, then that counts as 'not trained'. Posters who post in the 'not technically trained' forum are treated differently and I would have answered your query in there immediately.
Finally, you are sincerely welcome to AU and I'm sure you will find us useful, but please try and play by the rules.

Re: Analog extension to dial when taken off hook
Hello,
I will take special care from now on. I do admit that, while proficient in some things, I have sort of been forced into telephony.
I like it, and I like learning more. My training was rudimentary, and I will try very hard to learn more by observation and research.
Thank you for the hotline details. It is night time here, so I will try this tomorrow. I have no spare machinery to practice with. And my organisation is very anxious about any interference or maintenance with our production systems. This can give much stress when you don't need it.
Mr r1der I am sorry we got off to a bad start. I will be careful all the time now. And superoutage thank you for your advisings.
Hello cavagnero
and OXE_4400. This really cool being part of a worldwide forum.
