Connection Problems with Mobile IPtouch 300 devices

Post by andi »

Hi there,

I hope i post into the right section, because I can remember there was an own section for Mobile devices but I couldnt find it :(

Since last friday we have some Mobile IPtouch 300 phones running in our company but today during some tests we had some strange errors.

1. The mobile phones often lose the connection to their SVP server and I cant figure out why. The SVP is reachable, the phone is authenticated and active in the wireless network. Also roaming, signal strength and wlan key rotation cant be the problem, that works properly. The phone is standing next to me in the charging station doing nothing and then suddenly it makes a beeeeeeeep and the displays says "No SVP Response". Could it be that the SVP server has limitations for mobile devices that connect to the SVP? After my tests it looks like as the mobile phone loses its wlan connection, than trys to reconnect to the SVP, but on the SVP the mobile phone is still online and the SVP wont let the mobile phone connect. After the timeouts the SVP server deletes that phone in his database and the mobile phone can connet properly connect again. Thats the only solution for me that would make sense.

2. My second problem seems to be a realy heavy software bug. If the phone loses wlan connectivity and trys to reconnect to the ap the mobile freezes with the following errors message "Assert:vmac_qos.c Ln 391". That sounds for me very bad :)

Has anybody in here experiences with that mobile devices and had these strange problems? I would be very happy for every kind of help.

best regards

Yes. It's configurable:
SVP-II Configuration
Hostname: [yyyyyyyyyy], Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Phones per Access Point: 11
2. Never seen on my MIPT. :? Which SW do you use?
And which Mobile Solution version? 1.1, 2 or 3?

Hi Eliott,

thanks for your answer. I found the limitation config on the SVP but we should be able to use 5 phones per AP so that shouldnt be our problem, but I will do some other tests today.

The second point is really a software bug that is already fixed by NetLink, that problem should be gone with a software update as described here http://www.spectralink.com/files/softwa ... 0MiNet.pdf
Fixed assert: vmac_qos. c. ln 391 when roaming using FSR
thats exactly the problem that we have. I will contact our local Alcatel partern for that software update.

Thanks for your help again

Best regards
Andi

I'm having the same issue - MIPT's randomly dropping out and reconnecting, annoyingly loud beeps and all.

The error on the sets is:

No net found, no APs.

This occurs no matter what AP or network I'm using, I've tried different APs (brands, spec etc) and simplified the network down to MIPT->AP->Switch->PBX/SVP. A Laptop/PDA connected to the same AP/network stays connected and continues to ping the SVP/PBX fine during this apparent 'outage'.

It occurs if I set the MIPTs to static IP or DHCP and security preferences appear to have no impact.

I thought it was because the SVP-II didn't auto-negotiate correctly with the switch. It was showing 10/half, the number of packet errors was huge, along with the number of collisions so I took that value as true. I set both the switch and SVP to 100/full and haven't had any more packet errors. But the phones continue to intermittently drop.

Also, the wireless coverage of these sets is dismal. I can have a PDA and one of these phones side by side and the phone would have no signal and the pda showing at least 50% (~ -65dB@11mbps). Is this what others have experienced?

I also have the same problem when I put the PABX and the Wireless systems (SVP and wifi phones) at the different sub-network. After put the Wifi and OXE systems in the same network, the problem was fixed

What was the error msg? Our WiFI system and OXE are on different sub-networks, perhaps this is our problem aswell.

hey guys,

I have a little problem getting the MIPT's to work. They seem to connect to the SVP (I know because the SVP tells me how may users are registered and how many are free, out of 10), but the PBX side doesn't seem to work.

I have configured as per the system doc, but I think something in config must be wrong.

Any pointers anyone?
