Alcatel 4038 sip phone not sending BYE message on hangup

Im using Alcatel OXE R9.1 pbx.

I have an ipTouch 4038 SIP phone registered to the OXE.
I have an Avaya SIP phone registered to an Avaya pbx in my network also.
The two pbx's are connected to each other via a SIP trunk to a SIP proxy server.

I make a call from Avaya phone to the Alcatel phone. I answer and have audio in both directions.
If i hang up the Alcatel phone, the phone doesnt send a BYE message to clear down the call and as a result the Avaya phone just hangs.
If i hang up the Avaya phone instead , the call is closed down successfully.

Here is a quick synopsis :

Avaya <-- SIP trunk --> Proxy Server <-- SIP trunk --> Alcatel OXE

Avaya pbx = 10.10.9.45
Proxy server = 10.10.9.34
Alcatel OXE = 10.10.9.111

Alcatel SIP phone = 10.10.99.200
Avaya SIP phone = 10.10.99.10

Ive attached a motortrace from OXE and a trace from the Alcatel SIP phone.

Worth noting is that if i reverse the call , ie Alcatel rings Avaya and Alcatel phone hangs up , then a BYE is sent and call is cleared successsfully.

First of all, the OXE traces have strange format - all SIP fields are in a one line so it is almost unreadable.
Second if on putting receiver down 4038 does not send any message may be it is a problem with a set itself? Did you try oressing "on-hook" key instead of putting the receiver?

if you open the traces in wordpad , they should read fine.
There's no problem with the set as if i make a call say from alcatel to alcatel phone, clearing down works ok.

I tried to open it in Notepad and Wordpad. That's what I see

Sorry it is almost impossible to read - all SIP messages are in one very long line.

That means your phone is OK.
So in your OXE_trace.txt Alcatel phone's already finished this call - that could be only one reason of not sending any other SIP messages.
