VPN and remote phones

Post by andi »

Hi there

A workmate of me just asked me if I ever heard of an VPN enabled iptouch phone that only needs an active internet connection to connect through a VPN tunnel into our corporate network and then accesses our OXE system.

He said an Alcatel guy told him that on a meeting a few months ago, but in the internet or directly at alcatel we couldnt get and information about these features. So I told here would be the right place to ask for this features :)

So what the Alcatel guy told him was that Alcatel has phones with an integrated VPN client that builds up a tunnel through the internet and so lets the phone connect to our callservers.

I dont know if Alcatel really offers somthing like described above, but I think you guys know such things better than I do :)

Thanks for your help!

regards
Andi

Damn! That would have been to nice :)

The really stupid thing is that we have no contact data or even a name from the alcatel guy that told us about this feature.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Hello,

I don't think NOE IP touch has the VPN connection with call server. But it has the AVA(Automatic VLAN Acquisition) feature. AVA is the preferred solution for assigning a VLAN (802.1Q) to a terminal connected to a VLAN-enabled network.
Probably the IP touch will have the VPN connection in the future release.
