INT-IP / GIP4 & 6

Post by frank »

Hi guys..

Does anyone know excatly how work the daughter boards on the INTIP boards ? I had a INT-IP board with 30 channels for the IP trunk. The board had only 1GIP6 board with 30 channels, and only 16 showed up. Now, I added another GIP6 with another 30 channels, and I can see 30 channels.

How come one board is not enough ?

Thx

Maybe there is a software key required ?

The GIP6 DSPs provide 7 channels per DSP and the GIP4s provide 8 channels, so I can only assume there is some kind of software
lock that stops them from being used.

Ok, I am on site right now, and I have more info.

First of all, the GIPx boards:

The GIP6 daughterboard exists in 2 versions:
GIP6 (reference: 3BA 23194 AA) : 4 DSP (30 channel) fully-equipped version,
GIP6a (reference: 3BA 23219AA) : 1 DSP (8 channel) partially-equipped version.

The GIP4 daughterboard exists in 2 versions:
GIP4 (reference: 3BA 23221AA): 4 DSP (30 channel) fully-equipped version,
GIP4a (reference: 3BA 23230AA): 1 DSP (8 channel) partially-equipped version,

The GIP4 board ensures the same functions as the old GIP6 board, but with new components.

Now, on site :

I have 30 channels created on board 15:
0-15-0-1 to 0-15-0-31

If I unplug a daughter board, I can see 8 channels up, 8 down, 8 up, 8 down. If I plug both of the daughter board, 30 channels are up. But Even when I see the 30 up, once 15 are reached, the IP trunk is saturated..

The help on the mgr about the INT-IP board daughter boards says

Enter a numeric value, │ │
│ │ i.e. of the following values: │ │
│ │ None (0) │ │
│ │ GIP6x1 (1) │ │
│ │ GIP6x2 (2) │ │
│ │ GIP4x1 (3) │ │
│ │ GIP4x2 (4) │ │
│ │ GIP6A (5) │ │
│ │ GIP4A (7) │ │
│ │ GIP6Ax2 (9) │ │
│ │ GIP4Ax2 (12) │ │
│ │ │ │
│ │ INTIP daughterboard │ │
│ No│ This attribute concerns the INTIPA boards. │ │
│ │ - 1 GIP6 : 32 simultaneous connections (INTIPA - INTIPB) │ │
└────│ - 2 GIP6's : 64 simultaneous connections (INTIPA - INTIPB) │───┘
│ - 1 GIP4 : 24 simultaneous connections (INTIPA - INTIPB) │
│ - 2 GIP4's : 48 simultaneous connections (INTIPA - INTIPB)

so I don't understand why I need 2 daughter board to get only 32 channels. And I still don't understand why I can use 15 max... THIS PISSES ME OFF !

Okay, I have found my solution.
It seems that when you have more than 8 channels in the IP trunk licence, you need to create 2 IP access. :

Distribution of compressors on GIP6 and GIP6A boards

______________Access 0__________Access 1
1 GIP6A______8 compressors_________x
2 GIP6A_____16 compressors_________x
1 GIP6______16 compressors_____16 compressors
2 GIP6______30 compressors_____30 compressors

For the GIP6 board, as the compressors are distributed in two blocks, two T2 accesses must be created on the IP trunk group.

Warning: There is no message requiring these two accesses to be created. If only one access is created, only half the compressors will be available.

Note: It is advisable to set the 30 TSs of the access(es) to 1. If the number of compressors is less, the system only sees TSs effectively assigned as being in service. For example, if there is only one GIP6 board, the TRKSTAT or SUPROUTAGE commands show 30 TSs declared per access, but only 16 and 14 TSs in service.

In my configuration, I have 1 GIP6 and 32 compressors. Actually, 2 are used for something else by default, which let you have only 30 compressors. The solution was to create a second access (if you go all the way down in the TRUNK menu, T1/T2 access)... My INTIP board is in 0-15. so I had to create 0-15-0 and 0-15-1. This gives me 8 channels up, 8 down, 8 up, 8 down, 8 up, 8 down, 8 up, 8 down... Actually the one who are down are supposed to be on the 2nd GIP6 if it was here...

Complicated, but solution found !

If you want to use 1 GIP6 and 30 TS - you must create 2 accesses. In system documentation (Release 4.2) was written (IP-PCX network/voice over IP/management example) about this.
