How do I move an analog fax # to another port in another clo

Post by TheCleaner_DUP »

This can't be that hard...right?

I have a fax line in one closet that I want to move to the main closet in the other building...normally I'd just move the cable but this isn't the same closet.

How would I do this with an analog line? Specifically it is a fax machine, but shouldn't matter right?

If it's an analog station port, under the extension change shelf, board and equipment address to 255, 255, 255 and validate. If you know the new port, enter the address in those fields. If not, plug and analog phone (the fax machine if it has a handset) into the new station port, when you go off hook, the system will ask you for your extension number, enter the extension, it will then ask you for your password, enter 0000.

Thanks for the quick reply....so even an analog port will prompt with the "enter your extension number" like a digital phone will? Interesting, guess since I've never had to change anything since the original setup I never thought it was that smart...I'll try it out.

If you connect the telephone to a port available always is going to request first: number of the extension and soon the personal key(0000), this is independent of the type of the telephone.
