?? Each user you create is a phonebook entry. So you will need to delete all users...also you can create manual entries. But no way to wipe it all.

Phonebook? Where - PABX (OXE), telephone set (individual phonebook), 4760/8770?
For what reason?
As CAV explain - delete everything with name - users, speed dial etc.

Strange - when you delete users/speed dialing or something with name - this item shall be deleted from Phone book automatically.
May be you have problem with database? Check with "checkdb" command.
Another case - when you use mgr for management:
- someone create user with filled NAME and UTF-8 NAME (via 4760i f.e.)
- when you change user name (after some time) via mgr - you can change only field NAME, UTF-8 NAME - you cannot change with mgr.
And after you will have strange behaviour - when you call from DECT/4035 set - you will see one name, when call from 4039 - another.

So, my suggestion - when you see OLD NAME - open management via 4760i, find this name and analyse. You have wrong management in phone book or in users/speed dialing.
