Looking for a proceduire to downgrade from OXE7.1 to 6.2
Dears,
I am looking for a technical procedure to downgrade from OXE7.1 to OXE6.2.
Did anybody already experience such a case ?
If so can he / she please share a step by step procedure to manage it properly ?
Please take it easy as I am not so familiar with Swinst tool nor with PC installer.
By the way, what will happen with the OPS ?
Thx a lot for support / Kind Regards

I dont known how you will do it?
If I were in your shoe then I would have new hard drive with R6.2 on other system
Using 4760i I will export all the parameter from the system and import in R6.2.
You will require the OPS files of R6.2.
THIS IS IMPORTANT
Jackout all the cards from the system keep only CPU/CS.
After booting the CPU/CS on R6.2 put all cards one by one as they will download the new binary for R6.2.

Re: Looking for a proceduire to downgrade from OXE7.1 to 6.2
If you have the database backup from 6.2 -which you should have done before upgrade- then you can reinstall 6.2, and restore the backup. If not, as it is said in the previous post, you can *try* to use the 4760 to export / import
But why in the hell would you like to get back to 6.2 ?
8 is coming out this month. 9 is scheduled for next year already. 6.2 won't be supported anymore !

Re: Looking for a proceduire to downgrade from OXE7.1 to 6.2
Thx a lot guys.
I know that downgrading is wasting my time but this is not negociable.
The system is brand new, no configuration inside, delivered in 7.1. I thought that creating a partition and installing a 6.2 complete version will be OK.
Non configuration = no migration.
What is your point of view ?
Thx once again.

If yours was sold with 7.1, as Frank said correctly, why in the hell you want to downgrade???
Do you have a 6.2 license?
Format and install a 6.2 oxe but will do nothing unless you have a license.
That is not a downgrade...

Re: Looking for a proceduire to downgrade from OXE7.1 to 6.2
With OPS for R7.1 we can install Enterprise from R5.1 Lx to R7.1 Lx. For version system check only upper limit.
If some one want downgrade (I'm not understand why) - export in txt form main items (users, COS, prefixes, TG, HG), install R6.2, install OPS and import saved items. You can have some problem with import and after import (no one can say before exactly possible problems).
The best way - stay in release 7.1, if you have problem - solve them in release 7.1.
From my point of view - only two reason for downgrade:
1) you have no right OPS for release 7.1;
2) you have big problem after upgrade.
In both case - or you database simple and easy to restore manually, or you have previous database (before upgrade).

Hi guys,
it's funny how you are insisting on the fact that it is a none sens, I do agree but it is my duty.
Concerning the remark it's ok it's not a downgrade it is just re-installing a new system with a previous OXE version & no config inside.
Can you please give me the steps to follow ?
Thx a lot

What ever your situation may be that requires 6.2, since you are not downgrading all you need to do is a fresh install on the hard drive with 6.2. This will blow away the 7.1 release and you will be ready to go.
You may also load 6.2 on the inactive partition and create an empty database, this way you will have 7.1 already loaded when your ready to upgrade.
Good Luck!

If you have nothing configured, just install the 6.2 from scratch to downgrade. That's it.

Re: Looking for a proceduire to downgrade from OXE7.1 to 6.2
Thx torrentula & others, I was considering the idea to use the inactive partition.
If possible it's the idea.
Then can you please explain how to ?
1 how/where can I find a complete version of 6.2 + linux ? (is it possible to check it is the good one)
2 How to perform the install: Swinst commands to follow
3 How to make the inactive partition active ?
Thx a lot
