Virtual chassis recovery time

Post by lucablanc »

Hi all,
I'm evaluating some stack solution, I'm interested in recovery time in case of failure of Master/standby and slave member of a stack.

Does anybody know time recovery for L2 and L3 traffic in case of fault of Stack Master when the stack is connected in dual homing or in LACP mode to an other switch?

Mixing Virtual Chassis and ERP (G.8032) can that change the ring protection recovery time?

Thanks.

I have not measured it. but with mac-retention default enabled on AOS7/8 devices the recovery should be resonable fast, as LACP and STP do not need to reconverge.

i did simple ping tests and the unplugging the master chassis, in this case i had afaik a maximum of two pings failing, which was "good enough" for the setup, so i did not start digging on how to minimize that.

If you do your own tests: please let us know your results.
