Change VF Link of Virtual Chassis OS6900-X40

Post by sito82_viso »

Hello all,

I would like to know if someone have some experience about this issue.

We want to change one of the ports that are members of VF link.

We have thought to do it through the file "vcsetup.cfg". Is it a good way to do this modification?

Another question is if when we'll change the pair of ports (one of each switch), this change will cause some interruption of the service.

Thanks in advanced,

Best Regards,
devnull

if you use same speed ports (e.g. other 10G Links) you can try to issue something like:
virtual-chassis chassis-id 1 vf-link 0 member-port 1/1/40
virtual-chassis chassis-id 1 vf-link 0 member-port 1/1/39
virtual-chassis chassis-id 2 vf-link 0 member-port 2/1/40
virtual-chassis chassis-id 2 vf-link 0 member-port 2/1/39
no virtual-chassis chassis-id 1 vf-link 0 member-port 1/1/20
no virtual-chassis chassis-id 1 vf-link 0 member-port 1/1/19
no virtual-chassis chassis-id 2 vf-link 0 member-port 1/1/20
no virtual-chassis chassis-id 2 vf-link 0 member-port 1/1/19

Do a write memore flash-synchro afterwards, to store that in the vcsetup.cfg

If you want to move from 10G to 40G you can not do the above solution as mixing 10/40G is not allowed. then you need to modify vcsetup and reboot.

This could work (have not tested), modifying the vcsetups on each chassis and doing a reboot would be another solution. I would (always) do it in a maintanance window.

Hi devnull,

We'll try your solution because the new ports are the same of old ports.

Thank you for the response,
