Hi,
We have a problem with OS6450 multicast traffic management. The switch is an OS6450-10 release 6.6.2.91.R02.
There are eight IP CCTVs connected to the access port in the same VLAN. The switch works at layer 2 only (igmp snooping only, no querier) an it has the default multicast configuration. When we enable the ip multicast feature, the switch detects all multicast groups, but only detects four sources. Therefore, it only forwards four multicast streams..
If I configure "ip multicast flood-unknown enable", then the switch forwards the other four multicast streams, but drops the previous streams.
Did anyone see this case before?
Thanks and Regards.
OS6450 strange multicast behavior
Re: OS6450 strange multicast behavior
Try the following commands:
> ip multicast status enable
> ip multicast querying enable
> ip multicast querier-forwarding enable
And deactivate your flood-unknown ...
By the way: you have a very old firmware in your switch. You should make an update.

Re: OS6450 strange multicast behavior
Hi Silvio,
Many thanks for your reply.
We have tried this configuration yet but we have achieved the same results.
we are going to upgrade the firmware switch to version 6.6.4 and try again.
After the upgrade, I will tell the new results.
Thanks and Regards

Re: OS6450 strange multicast behavior
We wait for your results. Don't forgett to update fpga/uboot like written in RN.
By the way: has you tested it with a querier (IP interface in that vlan at one of the switches).

Silvio

Re: OS6450 strange multicast behavior
Hi,
Alcatel Support solution ->
Upgrade to release 6.4.6 and type this command "hash-control mode fdb CRC".
The problem has been fixed.

Re: OS6450 strange multicast behavior
Hi,
thanks for the answer.
I have searched some weeks ago for the difference bedween the two hashcontrol modes in fdb. But I didn't find any hint.
Give the Support any declaration of the default hashmode and the crc?
thanks and regards
Silvio
