Vlan Propagation

Hi Guys

I have a big project with 22 Alcatel Switches, 20 of them are 6450 and 2 are CoreSwitches 6860.
The Guys there till now were using Cisco switches. They were asking me about one functionality that they were using on the Cisco about vlans. I've read the user manual of the alcatel and i found something.
Their old infrastructure was configured with some Protocol for Vlans, like so If they add one new Vlan on the Core Switch it would be propagated on every other. I've read in Alcatel user manual and i found that GVRP is propagating VLANs on every other switch. The question is..
If i use GVRP on the Core Switch and every other, would I be able to make port default and 802.1q on a port of a edge switch? When i am trying to use
vlan 10 port default 1/6, the switch wont let me do this, it gives me an error because vlan 10 is a Dynamic Vlan.

Can somebody help me.
