Inter vlan routing

Post by firewall1981 »

Dear Team,

I have configured the OS6900 and the connection are as given below.

WAN ROUTER
|
User (VLAN-10) <------>Cisco L2 Switch <------->Omni Switch 6900<-------->Cisco L2 Switch <--------->User (VLAN 20)

Some users connected at vlan-10 are not able to communicate to the user on vlan 20 while some are able to communicate and this happens for other vlan also. We have also seen that whenever we do system reload (Omni Switch) intervlan routing happening perfectly but after few minutes the issue re appears. This issue seen to the user randomly in all vlan’s.

I have attached the configuration please help to reolve the issue.

Regards,
Naveen

Looking at your configuration there are a couple of things that shouldn't be as they are ...
  • Please don't use "spantree mode flat", especially not with STP
  • You should probably update the AOS software to the latest release you can get from Alcatel-Lucent (current Maintenance Release)
  • Start the switch from that directory with the new software, but put an empty boot.cfg there to avoid that the switch does "Auto-Fabric" (that is the reason why you have flat STP and all this SPB stuff enabled)
  • A couple of your ip-interfaces are turned off, so they'll not be available for inter-vlan routing (like vlan 20 and vlan 30)
  • You likely don't need OSPF for this network, nor DVMRP nor PIM nor ...
This doesn't mean that your issue goes away, but right now there are so many factors wrong that it is hard to pinpoint where your issue comes from.
My best guess is: Root-cause comes from STP.

You obviously have to restore your configuration during the process, adding all the pieces that you really need (ip addresses, etc).
