Post by aldorado »

Hello,

could any one help me please, as I have an OTUC server based on redhat4 and I want to activate its GUI interface to be easy for control.
I searched on how to activate it and I found a command (startx) on a command prompt. but when I type this command I receive the following error:

** (nm-applet:16656): WARNING **: <WARNING> nma_dbus_init (): org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.FileNotFound raised:
Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory

please help......

Hi. Maybe you get that error because you tried to run startx from ssh session. However, OTUC is configure using http. So, from a web browser, http://<otuc server name> (or https, do not remember)

Hi Tincho,

yes, you are right, I write startx on ssh connection session, but I usually use the web browser to configure soft phone account (add, delete, disable, edit,......) but what if I need to collect information about the harddisk, can I use the web browser as well, or I can use the GUI of the server itself.
