Hi! - I moved the server over the week end to handle the daily incoming connections (about 200K/day) but it looks like I aimed too low for the resources. I'm going to have to move this server (hopefully for the last time) this week. I'm sorry for the interruption.

Network based asset management of 4028 handsets

Post by gazwald »

Howdy,

I'm trying to work out a way of identifing a 4028 handset using a network asset management system. This system performs pings and network scans to discover any network devices and then tries to identify and catagorise them using SNMP and a few other methods.

Do the 4028 handsets support SNMP or some other method of working out what they are from the network? The handsets respond to a ping so the systems counts it as an asset, but that's about it at the moment so I end up with a list of unknown devices. Thanks.

Regards,
g@z.

Correct but you will also have other equipment such as GD in the count since those also start with 00:80:9F.

Well, you will need to take down each individual MAC add I suppose.

...and simply compare those mac addresses to the mac addresses for sets when you do "domstat" "all domain devices".
