MyIC does not start correctly

Hi @All,

we have installed MyIC 2.7.009.007 on WINXP SP3, .Net-Framework (2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 incl. servicepacks) are installed too.
On three Machines it is running well: searchbar and tray-icon are visble, all configured features are usable - so the server ist working.
On some machines (same IC-client, same OS, same network) MyIC is not starting correctliy: if i doubleclick the icon the logon dialog opens, i can enter a user-name and pasword, logon-procedure passes with no errors but only the searchbar opens, the tray-icon not.
If i enter something into the searchbar nothing happens. iCommunicator and MyIcService are running.

Via browser i can open the whole suite including the softphone without problems.

Any recomendations for possible reasons?

I had a similar problem and was that the machine had different Net versions as they were developers. Doing a clean install of .Net and removing old ones it worked.

Hi Cavagnaro,

i've tried to get it done with your recommended method. But even after the reinstallation of .Net i had the same status.
(Btw: only .Net version 2.0, like during the install-Pocedure of MyIC required, is not an option, if you use MS-Update. MS-Update will reinstall also 3.0 and 3.5 including all actual fixes).

But I ve found a little 'quick and dirty' solution: I've made a copy of the folder "Alcatel" from ...\documents and settings\application data\ from a working system to one, where MyIC did not work, thereafter it was running well. :D
To have a really "maiden-like" MyIC, it is usefull to clear the file 'UserCache.xml' in the folder "alcatel\mpc\".

During my trials, I've found the file 'log4net.xml' in the same folder, wich can be used for creating logfiles (by default, logfile will be created in "%TMP%\Alcatel-Lucent\MPC\mpc.log"). I my situation the error message, wich was created, did'nt helped me out, because i could'nt interprete a usefull meaning from it. I guess, that the reason for the uncorrect start of MyIC was a defective or incorrect skin-description on the default setting in a new installation. The errormessage was like: "entry in database index not found"...translated from german...:-)

So far - my 50ct.
Maybe it is helpful for somebody else.

Looks like a bug that existed on initial versions of ICS, are you installing last one (603c)? if so open a ticket with ALU and report it as a bug

Hello Cavagnaro,

on the CD I've found "OminTouch Instant Communications Rel. 6.1", so I guess, that i have to look for a newer Version!?
