Wideband support - Yes/No?

Post by Kinne »

Hi,

eveybody is talking about wideband (transmitting an audio bandwidth extending beyond the conventional telephony bandwidth of 300 to 3400 Hz, to a bandwidth of approximately 150 to 7000 Hz). So what about the current IP Touch 40xx EE series. Is there support for it within its handsets (microphone and speaker)? For the needed wideband codec, I can´t find any hint, either. But perhaps someone of you knows?

Hi,

G722 will be available on the new ALU phone sets (serie 8000) and with new IP boards (INTIP3 and GD3)

Not exactly.
I would say that it will be supported in OXE R9.1 in closest monthes:

IP Touch enhancement: G722 Wide Band support
Available for IP Touch 4028 / 38 / 68 EE
Depends on codec negotiation between IP Touch only, managed on the same OmniPCX Enterprise
In case of Voice Recording (via 3rd party Voice Recording Application), G711 algorithm will be used

Well, the codec itself isn´t enough to reache "real" wideband. Also within your handset, i.e. the inbuilt microphone and speakers. It´s no surprise that the new 8000 series will probably have that. But what about the 40xx series? I guess that it´s a no?
Btw, what about the conference solutions. Will wideband conferences be available?

WB was announced by ALU ~~2 years ago on 4028 / 38 / 68 EE like "sets ready for WB".
I guess that its enough to prove :

IP Touch enhancement: G722 Wide Band support
Available for IP Touch 4028 / 38 / 68 EE

It was taken from ALU presentation.

BTW.:
I don't believe that limitation can be on microphone and speakers. It depends on DSP / set firmware.

Well, it is talking about the G.722 codec, but not the microphone, nor the speaker.

Does anyone have the FCC ID for the Alcatel IP Touch 40xx series? Perhaps I can find something on https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/rep ... Search.cfm
