A card in slot 3 is overheating

Post by ant »

I have a problem with a 4400. We were using a Z24 in slot3 that was overheating. We changed the slot and now the card is working fine. My problem is that when i add a crd in slot3 is getting overheated.
Is there a problem with the backplain or it could be something else?

even if the card is overheating - does it actually work?

Hmmm, personally I've never had this problem before, But I would suggest you look at the pins on the backplane and make sure none are shorted.

About problem like this I hear first time.
Insert card and disconnect cabel from backplane - problem still exist?
Check with "listerm" command - may be some line in MISCALL (shorted line) state?
Check wire mesh on the ACT top - no barrier (dirt, paper...)?

The cards are working untill they get too overheated and after that stops. We have already checked for shorted pins.
