Are you sure it is a DVD drive?

Yes I'm sure, it's DVD drive.

I have an idea, it's to mount a memory stick (16Go) with a contents of the DVD.

I found an another the problem when I try to start VMUC.

cannot open the disk /var/lib/vmware/virtualMachines/vmUC-R551/RHUC_new.vmdk or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
Reason: Failed to lock the file

see the attached file.

I finally find a solution to resolve the problem with vmUC.

I think that this problem is due to the power failure and the BICs has not shutdown properly.

To solve this problem the file file RHUC_new.vmdk.WRITELOCK must be removed

1 – connect on the BICS by ssh client (PUTTY)
Login : admin
Password : xxxxx

2 – For more security I have save the file RHUC_new.vmdk.WRITELOCK

# cp /var/lib/vmware/VirtualMachines/vmUC-551/RHUC_new.vmdk.WRITELOCK /var/lib/vmware/VirtualMachines/vmUC-551/RHUC_new.vmdk.WRITELOCK.save

3 – Erase the file RHUC_new.vmdk.WRITELOCK

# rm /var/lib/vmware/VirtualMachines/vmUC-551/RHUC_new.vmdk.WRITELOCK

4 – Start the VMWare Server Console

On vmUC menu click on « Start this virtual machine »

enjoy vmUC is starded………….

For my first problem to access at the internal dvd drive, I have found a solution use an external usb DVD drive.

I have do some test the DVD drive on usb is accessible by /mount/cdrecorder1 but I have a question I need to boot on usb.

Someone can tell me if by default the boot on usb is actived on the server IBM SYSTEMX 3250 M2 or how to enter on the BIOS?

I think it will be best to use an external DVD drive instead of an USB.
As for your internal DVD Drive can you test it into another server? Or download some linux DVD like ubuntu and see if it works just to test the DVD Drive.
