DECT Problems with GAP and Alcatel mobiles

Post by Egidio »

DECT problem on OXE with DECT8 Boards

Our reliese is R6.0.1-f1.603-1-c-ge-c5s2

We use many 4074 as well as GAP sets (different brands and types, but mainly Siemens C45 and some SL1 colour), also a number of GAP+ (mobil 200)

The GAP sets often do not ring, no sign at all or only optical alarm in display.
No call possible from the set either.
After some time waiting calling is possible again.

Turning set off and on does not help.
'dectrestart' does not necessarily help - I am not sure what it does
OXE shutdown helps for a few days. But then failures increase again.

Now even at least one 4074 started to react similarly.

There is no sign visible anywhere yet in incvisu or in the system.

On GAP+ (mobil 200) often we recieve "Keine Antwort vom System" = no answer from system.

Since these errors occur sporatic and cannot be duplicated, it is very difficult to check, whether there is any sign in the system

Could there be a hardware problem in OXE?
or Hardware problem in mobiles?
Is there an influence from GAP to the whole system?
Could it be a generall GAP weekness?
Could it be a problem of this reliese?

Has anyone of you experiences in this area that could help me track down the problem?

I had a simmilar problem on an OXO R.3 when upgrading from 4200E, when using old releases of IBS. But then I solved the proble making sw upgrade on IBSs on a 4400 R 3.2 (on OXE/4400 when plugged normally it downloads the sw from the rel it has).
I had the same: No answer from the system.
In your case is pretty strange: you are on OXE.
Try plugging the base stations on another PBX's that you have and than put them back on the system in question. See what happens. (the other way around is buying a tool from Alcatel to load sw on IBSs)

Is there a tool to upload??

You have a part number?
Already ordered the tool to upgrade the Mobile 100 / 200 series

No. Just plug the IBS behind a OXE/4400.
The Base Station will start flashing automatically.
Then you can use it in your OXO/4200 environment.

Sorry I did not come back on this, I had lots of things to do.

Unfortunately (or luckily?) I have only got one PBX, so I cannot try things on another machine, and all our base stations are RBS on DECT8 Boards.

Meanwhile we patched the OXE to R6.0.1-f1.603-1-ah-ge-c5s2/3. Now as expected things behave nicely after shutdown, and I am waiting for things to happen. I had 1 or 2 "No answer from System" allready but not as many as befor shutdown. so I expect them to become more frequent.

Thanks for all replies and ideas!

Has anyone tested the Panasonic DECT phones with the Alcatel OXXE systems ?

I have a customer requested my company to quote them a lot of 100 phones for their factory coz the Alcatel DECT phones are too expensive for them (out of their budgets).

Anyone here have them worked with the OXXE please let me know.

No I haven't experience with Panasonic phones.

But the "No answer from the system" messages can be caused by synchronization issues also.

My feeling (experience) is, the Alcatel OXE GAP protocol works not very reliably with several Siemens handsets. :?

Just to round up the subject:

After the upgrade things look not so bad as before.
The problem is not completely gone but drastically better.

It seems to be true that Alcatel GAP and Siemens DECT sets do not fully agree with each other. But it may be good to restart the OXE once in a while anyway (after some month). And this reduces the error for a good time at least.

Littlebit later but better than nothing...

As I remember we had the same problem on R6.0 xxx. I thing we have passed it by replacing of the sets (may be wrong batch)...

I remember the testing of the KIRK handset and works relatively fine (but without the CLIP) only after changing of the parameters under DECT SYSTEM - Nb. of paging requests...

Now I'm testing Siemenst gigaset C470 - internally works, also display infos there... at this time no incoming external calls works. I have changed the mentioned parameters and will have to reset the system... will see...

Does someone have a knowledge about additional 3party vendor (except Ascom 9d) dect handy that works fine?
