OXE - redundant IP adressing

Post by slabr_DUP »

Hi.

Could anybody can explain me, how should I corectly configure IP adressess in redundant CPU OXE?? I wanted to understand it reading the enclosed documentation, but it isn't well described there (for me). I know, that each CPU has two adresses (phisical and logical). And I think that one logical adress should be shared beetwen two CPUs depends of their role, to have access by the same IP adress to main CPU and doesn't matter which of them is in MAIN mode. I have 6.1.1 realase of OXE PABX.

One logical address was in 4400. Main and stand-by CPU was in one shelf.
In Enterprise you can have CPU (CS) located in two differente places (one CPU with some shelfs in one building and second CPU with some shelfs in second place, this CPU can be connected in different subnetwork). Therefore may be two addresses for CPU main.

So, since Enterprise Edition it is not possible to have one logial IP adress for Main CPU regardless of which processor is in MAIN mode? If yes, so how to configure i.e. OmniVista to automaticly synchronize after CPU switch, if no, how to configure OXE using netadmin tool?

If both CPU in the same subnetwork - you can manage the same IP address for role MAIN.

So can you tell me how should I have to configure my PABX using netadmin tool? I have two CPUs in one subnetwork but now, when they are swichover I have to change IP adress to have access to main CPU.

what release are you using ?
6.1.1 you have to use virtual domain
before 6.1.1 you have to have 2 local ip address, and 2 address (main/stdby)

If you have 2 cpus, just put the ip address of each of the cpu.
Then it s going to ask you the ip address when it's main , give another IP address. you will ALWAYS telnet, make changes, ftp to this address.

When you configure ip address of the 2nd cpu, it will ask you again for the name of the MAIN cpu, with its IP address. Just put whatever you put when you configured the previous local cpu.

MMhh.. not sure it's clear, lol...

Thanks Frank.

Everything is clear. I've just reconfigured my PABX and now it's OK. When I switch CPUs, MAIN IP adress stay the same, so aplications like OmniVista still works. Thanks a lot.
