OFS Fax Server routing problem
OFS Fax Server routing problem
Hi,
I'm facing some problems with the Alcatel FaxServer Solution. As far as I know it is a new product and OXE integration documents are not available. I only found an technical knowledge base article, but is is insufficient.
The Fax Server itself is the Sagem Medius.
Status: Fax Server is up and running, integration in LDAP and Exchange 2007 is ok, SIP Trunk and Network Routing (according to the TKB) is configured. (Routing No. 66)
An incoming call on the OXE (PRI) is routed to the SIP Trunk.
A Number (ISDN Fax Card): 316444449999
B Number (OXE): 316555556622000
OXE is stripping the Installation number (31655555) and sending a SIP INVITE 662000 to the Fax Server. Since the bearer cap is only speech at this point of time, the Fax Server sends an RE-INVITE with the fax caps. The RE-INVITE is send to the A number (31644449999).
It seems that OXE doesn't know how to route the call to the PRI trunk.
What I already tried/checked:
Connection COS of both trunks is 1
Using an IP Phone (either ARS or Pro Trunk Group) and dialing the A number is working.
I attached the FaxServer log and an Ethereal trace in the zip.
Sending Faxes to the OXE is also not working. The FaxServer uses canonical form +43316444449999 (Austria), but the call is not routed to the PRI. Country Code is set to 43. What do I have to do to allow a transit call? (some SIP NW behind OXE -> public access)
Anyone already successfully integrated the Fax Server? Is there some howto documentation available?
Any help appreciated!
Thx,
Nowi

Hi!
Finally someone with similar issues toi me
I agree that documentation sucks, Alcatel excuse is that it is always the same for new products...what a $hit.
As you are using SIP i'll try to send the fax to: 07125000 where 0 is the trunk prefix on OXE and 7125000 the destination number. I don't see where to convert canonical to dialable numbers on the FaxServer.
Can you please post some screenshots of your LDAP configuration and Exchange SMTP Connector? I'm lost in that part.
I have a eSR with them and soon as I get something I'll update this post again

Hi!
In order to do the integration with Exchange 2007 you have to execute the Powershell Command provided in the Alcatel Documentation. To use the provided Outlook Forms for Alcatel things are getting a little bit more difficult. You have to create a Public Folder Store called "Public Message Store" and use MAPI Editor to create a "My Organizational Forms Library" in the Public Message Store. (See Screenshots). Then u can use the Forms within Outlook to send a fax.
Feel free to contact us for any further questions.
Regards,
Nowi and cBlack
btw: Do you know How we can tell the pbx to route incoming international/national/internal calls from SIP Trunk to the right destinations (internal users or ISDN Trunk)? There must be a way to tell the Alcatel PBX that it should cut the + and the Country Code and the installation number. Any ideas?

Re: OFS Fax Server routing problem
Hi,
I'm using Exchange 2003. How does the Exchange SMTP connector works on this architecture? Is it for Inbound faxes or for outbound.
So on Exchange connector, If my faxserver name is fax.ebdperu.local, how am I supposed to configure this exchange connector? Can you share some more screenshots maybe?
I'm trying to send a fax right now from web user interface to 07125035 which is a Fax machine I do have and got a 488 error
I'm asking Alcatel more info about this...
Thanks

Hi me again,
for changing the numbers you can use Configuration > Modification Table
This is explained on 8AL_90215_USAA ed.01.pdf on page 79/80

Re: OFS Fax Server routing problem
Ok me again
Achieved to send faxes using user web interface.
Had to change Public COS to the SIP trunk group to allow it to dial out. Works cool.
However I still can't make work faxes from Outlook.
I put:
TO: fax:07125015 -> doesn't work
TO: fax:07125015@otuc.company.com -> Returns an error from Exchange server of not reachable...
Any ideas?
