Installing 9.1 OXE Release from scratch

Post by Solandsystel »

Hi everybody.

So I have a CPU7-2 with release 10 on it.

I would like to install a full release 9.1 on this hard disk (so the R10.0 will be completely wiped from HDD) but I didn't find the right documentation for it.
i tried with PC installer and swinst (install deliveries from server) but this seems to be right only for static and dynamic patches.
tried to boot from ethernet (and answered no to standard installation) but it seems i'm misssing some steps in order to finish the job correctly.

So any help would be welcome

hi
pc installer 5.5 needed
the hdd should be formatted ntfs separately or by the command grubboot -ETHER which launches the installatiuon from scratch ;but you have to check 2 things
1- if Bios is supported as cpu comes from a R10
2-software lock to use the r9.1 >>>>>>>>>> 165 OmniPCX Enterprise release = 39 i have never tried a downgrade so i can't tell about but i know each release is encoded like that under swl locks 39 means r9.1 is authorized

Hi Haroun,
Thanks for your quick reply
My idea was to prepare a second hdd for each customer.
So the cpus i use (cpu3s2, cpu6 and cpu7s2) belongs to me and i use them just to load the releases on the backup hdds.
At the end, each hdd is aimed to be connected to the respective cpu of each customer.
Thanks for the note about the bios.
I have of course the ops and a database backup of each customer.
My main request here is, if possible, a step by step procedure to load the full binaries on a hdd.
Let's say i take the hdd from the cpu7 and format it with ntfs .
Then i put it back in the cpu and if i understood you well, when the cpu detects an empty hdd it will launch the full installation procedure .

Well I tried that by launching pc installer 5.5 (but without formatting the hdd).
So my guess is to format the hdd and then try again.
Please let me know if i'm right or wrong.

PS: i also tried to read dozens of TCs and didn't find ayone that describes the full installation procedure step-by-step

yes with an empty hdd the cpu will launch the automatic installation at boot from network -put a serial con & you will see the request for dhcp and bootp from network .
or you can use the grubboot -ETHER COMMAND to formate a working hdd 'in production) and launch the automatic installation.
as reference see the system doc for call server installation procedure

consult tc1607
from tech doc tc 1607
5.4. Standard installation of a complete version
The standard installation of a complete version is carried out with:
− the OmniPCX Enterprise PC Installer software and,
− either CPU bios standard installation menu of a A4400 Call Server or automatically after
network boot of an Alize, Appliance Server, Blade Server or CS-2.
Procedure
− Open the application OmniPCX Enterprise PC Installer as described in section § 5.2 .
− In the menu Preferences, select the drive that contains the PABX version to be installed.
− In the field Installation type, select the type of installation Linux + Call_handling
..............................................

− On Call Server V24 configuration port:
For Alize, Appliance Server, Blade Server or CS-2 Call Server
If the no software version is loaded on the server, the Bios default parameters will force the
server to reboot continuously on its Ethernet interface.
If a software version is loaded on the server, use following process to force the boot on the
Ethernet interface:
♦ Login as root account.
♦ Launch grubboot ETHER then shutdown –r now command.
Standard installation begins after the Call Server performs a network boot.

For CPU7 Call Server
Two methods of installation are possible, the Alize method or 4400 method, see Note 2.
If the no software version is loaded on the server, the Bios default parameters will force the
CPU7 to reboot on its Ethernet interface using the Alize method of installation.
If a software version is loaded on the server, use following process to force the boot on the
Ethernet interface using the Alize method of installation:
♦ Login as root account.
♦ Launch grubboot ETHER then shutdown –r now command.

Standard installation begins after the Call Server performs a network boo
