Audio Choppiness on ALE20 Phones – High Jitter Observed

Hi everyone,

We're experiencing audio issues with Alcatel ALE20 phones in our network. During some calls, the audio cuts in and out, making conversations difficult to understand. We analyzed the traffic and observed jitter values averaging between 3.4 and 4.4 ms, with peaks reaching 17–18 ms.

Interestingly, when replacing the ALE20 with an Alcatel 4018 on the same network port, the issue disappears. This suggests the problem might be specific to the ALE20 devices rather than the network itself.

Has anyone encountered similar issues with ALE20 phones? Could this be related to jitter tolerance differences between models, firmware versions, or specific configurations? Any insights or troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen some tickets opened and software patches regarding bad quality audio on the new ALE Series.
Did you check that maybe?

I'll check it. Meanwhile, our support team told us they increased some buffers of the ALE20 phones.
