Console port 2260

Post by zepeki »

Hello,

I create this topic today because since the arrival of the new range of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, the 2260, I can not access them via the console port as I usually do for the other switches of the range.
Usually I use an Rs232 DB9 cable to connect to the console port on the switches. I also tried with the adapter provided by Alcatel and by changing the speed, nothing works.
If you have the solution, thank you in advance.

For 2260/2360 you need the same serial adapter like for OAW (it is the same like for Cisco). Normaly the speed is set to 9.600 Baud. But I have seen that the speed where sometimes 115.200 Baud.

Search the web for "Cisco Console Cable" or "Cisco serial adapter"....

I am facing same issue. Tried for different console cables and no luck. I am unable to understand why alcatel switches doesn't support a simple standard console cable.

I have tried following
1- USB console cable Prolific
2- Cisco Console Cable with USB to Serial Convertor
3- DB9 Rj45 adapter with straight, cross and rollover cables

if anyone finds a solution please share
thanks in advance!

use the cisco adapter. Sometimes (depenth from the usb-serial-adapter) you need to test with RTS or DTR enabled - normally it is disabled.
If there is any output at the terminal, than you have the correct adapter. If the output is strange than change the speed (115.200).
