Hello everyone,

I have 7 Omniswitches 6900 with firmware 8.7.252.R02. I would like to update this to version 8.9.78.R01. What is the time schedule for this? Which intermediate versions may have to be used or is a direct update to the version mentioned possible? Are there other pitfalls? I come from the Cisco world and am brand new to Alcatel.

direct update is possible. In the release notes 8.9.R1 and in the switch management guide you find a lot of informations about it.
You can choose "Standard update" (reboot of the whole vc in one step - interrupt up to 10 Min) or ISSU (reboot chassis after chassis within the vc). With good prepered ISSU (all links are redundant f.e. via LACP at different chassis) you have no lost packets.
In both cases you need some time for preparation etc. ... maybe 2-4 hours (it depents)
