Help to get access to my switch ?

Post by steenh »

I would like to have access to My switch through HTTP, but I cannot get to it ?

Show ip interface Give following result..:

Total 3 interfaces
name IP Address Subnet Mask Status Forward Device
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Loopback 127.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 UP NO Loopback
emp 192.168.1.144 255.255.255.0 DOWN NO Unbound
management 10.35.254.3 255.255.255.0 DOWN NO No vlan 100

I would like to connect to the emp connection ? How do I do that ?

Best Regards,

Steen

You have to enable http access in the configuration.
It is explained in the documentation of the switch.

Hi,
you need to enable the access (like frank has written). The services are per default enabled.
f.e.
aaa authentication http local
aaa authentication http local

What happens when you debug the access?

In your output the interface is down
"management 10.35.254.3 255.255.255.0 DOWN NO No vlan 100"

Are you able to ping this interface? Is your computer in the same vlan?

OS6450 switch does not have any EMP port and the VLAN IP interface also is down. The only way to get http access is to have "management" IP interface UP.

Check vlan 100 port association "show vlan 100 port". Have the front panel port through which you are establishing HTTP to be part of VLAN 100.

For example, let us say port 1/1 is where the PC is connected.

PC--------(1/1)OS6450

1) Make port 1/1 to be part of VLAN 100.
->vlan 100 port default 1/1

If the PC is connected via some other switch and we can make it as a tagged port.
->vlan 100 802.1q 1/1

2) Assign the PC IP in the same subnet as switch management IP 10.35.254.0/24 or routing should be enabled to reach switch from the PC.

Once this is done check if you are able to ping switch IP 10.35.254.3 from PC. If that works, then try accessing the switch via browser.

3) you may also have to check "show http" to see https is enabled.

Thanks,
Neethu
