Numbering Plan

Post by killer_DUP »

Does anyone know if we can support a 6 digit and a 4 digit numbering plan on an IP OXO 4400 Rel 7.1 . Would like to run a 4 digit dial plan within the buliding with a 6 digit plan across different buildings. We have a clash on one extension range across buildings if we stay with 4 digits and I don't want to go 6 digits internally.

I think the answer to your question is yes. If you are talking about an OXE. I'm not sure what an IP OXO 4400 is :?

Also, this message should have been posted under the 'Translator' forum.

OK Killer, no problem. The OXE is completely flexible, but then you have to take care if you use 4635 Voicemail. Although it is part of the OXE suite, unfortunately, it is really 3rd party (Octel) and it will limit you if all extensions must have voicemail.

However, There is a feature on the OXE known as 'local short dialing'. The idea is that your extensions may be 6 digits E.G 11x000 to 11x999, and you can create a prefix that when user dials x123, the system will actually dial 11x123. This is not speed dialling (incase you were thinking that). Speed dialling is different on the OXE.

Now, of course, you will have to plan a complete 6 digit plan for your entire system and assign the leading 2 digits on a per building basis. Using this method will mean the 4635 voicemail will be good for everyone. So, within each building, users just dial the 4 digit number for another extension in the same building. If they want to call another extension in another building, they must dial the full 6 digits.
Hope that helps :D

Edit: Oh, and by the way, tell your local SI to check this forum out - we will gladly fill the gap between their ears with what this beast (OXE) can do
