I searched in the OmniStack 6200 official user guides and documentations, but found nothing that can confirm what I suspect.
Here is my interrogation: for security reasons, we would like to deactivate password recovery on the switch.
In the user guides, I found that this operation can be performed by accessing the Startup Menu while the equipment is booting:
During the boot process, after the first part of the POST is completed press <Esc> or <Enter> within two seconds after the following message is displayed:
Autoboot in 2 seconds -press RETURN or Esc.to abort and enter prom.
The Startup menu is displayed and contains the following configuration functions:
[1]Download Software
[2]Erase Flash File
[3]Erase Flash Sectors
[4]Password Recovery Procedure
[5]Enter Diagnostic Mode
[6]Back Enter your choice or press 'ESC' to exit:
I can only deduce that the Startup Menu cannot be deactivated, so the only solution left would be to suppress the entry [4] in the menu.If a password is lost, use the Password Recovery option on the Startup menu. The procedure enables the user to enter the device once without a password.
To recover a lost password for the local terminal only:
1. From the Startup menu, select [4] and press <Enter>. The password is deleted.
2. To ensure device security, reconfigure passwords for applicable management methods.
I also imagine this is not feasible, but I would like a confirmation of this statement
