When dialing an extention internally the set drops into voice mail if the set is busy, when dialing the set externally via ddi the set just rings and rings as if there is no-one in the office. I have checked the user profile/ assco set/ voice mail type etc... with a known working set, they appear identical.

I'm cofused as whilest testing this it worked (tripped into VM) on 2 /10 times....

could be your public network category overflow properties jiggsy

If it's multiline:
Check the to make sure multilie property is managed.

Also check the COS (phone) and Dynamic State User parameters.

I've taken what you both said on board, and had a good hard look at the extns compared to one that works okay.'

There are no differences........aaaagggghhhhh.

User/Dynamic state user - overflow on associate (box checked) and VM number like associated number.
And one question - during internal call overflow to VM automatically or calling user dial suffix VM deposit?

On site troubles/voicemail

The voicemail will not pickup unless the Multi-Line status has been assigned to the phone set on line 1 and line 2. I have just had exactly the same problem and found the Multi-line was not assigned on a 4020 handset, i did the above and tested by dialing internally and externally, both times went to vmail.

Hi!

I've already experienced this.

1. When you call to a busy set internally you hear the busy tone or the call goes to the mail box if used.
2. When you call that same set when is busy from outside (via a trunk group) what you hear is the ring back tone (because the second call is waiting and if you go on hook with the first call inmediately the second call will start ringing in the set and you can answer the second call).

The solution, easy.

This happens because the public access category of the user is configured to behave this way.

If what you want is that the externall call goes to the mail box when the user is busy simply configure the next parameters in the section

mgr/Categories/Access Category/Public Access Category/(category of the user)

If the call is incoming via ISDN, MF R2
-----------------
Incom. DDI hold on busy set

Night : 0
Day : 0
Mode 1 : 0
Mode 2 : 0


Set values to 0 so that the second call goes straigh to the mail box if configured or if you want that the calling party listen to busy tone if there is no mail box.

If the call is incoming via a tie line
-----------------
In.Tie Line hold on busy set

Night : 0
Day : 0
Mode 1 : 0
Mode 2 : 0


-----------------
If the call is incoming via a NDDI trunk
-----------------
Incom.NDDI hold on busy set

Night : 1
Day : 1
Mode 1 : 1
Mode 2 : 1



In this section of the system it is also possible to configure if the public network category has the right to overflow to associated when a second call arrives.
