setting static route

Hi
first time setting up the omniswitch 48 port and having issues setting a static route

on switch A 6850-48
ip static-route 10.0.0.0/8 gateway 10.39.108.1
ERROR: Route and gateway must differ
system - 6.3.1.871.R01 GA, December 20, 2007

switch B cmd is successful 6850-24
ip static-route 10.0.0.0/8 gateway 10.39.108.1
system - 6.1.3.719.R01 GA, December 06, 2006

There error you are getting makes perfect sense does it not? You are creating a route to the 10.0.0.0/8 network but your gateway is on that network your trying to get to? You need to specify a gateway that your switch knows how to get to. You need to choose the local gateway that will get you to the 10.0.0.0/8 network.

Looks like the release is different on the two switches...My guess is the release you are using is deferred seeing that they were released in December of 2007.
