NPD managment for 08xx number presentation

Hi,
Does anybody know if there is any specific managment required within the NPD which will allow the network provider to forward a freephone no. (ie 0800xxx 0870xxxx) as the outgoing cli?
I believe I have the system configured to send the correct cli to the network, and this is confirmed on a t3 trace:

| (889938:000063) 1235: Send_IO1 (link-nbr=1, sapi=0, tei=0) :
| long: 46 desti: 0 source: 15 cryst: 2 cpl: 6 us: 8 term: 0 type a5
| tei: 0 <<<< message sent : SETUP [05] Call ref : 04 2c
|______________________________________________________________________________
|
| IE:[04] BEARER_CAPABILITY (l=3) 80 90 a3
| IE:[6c] CALLING_NUMBER (l=13) -> 01 81 Num : 08704422482
| IE:[70] CALLED_NUMBER (l=2) -> 81 Num : 0
| IE:[7d] HLC (l=2) 91 81
|______________________________________________________________________________

______________________________________________________________________________
| (889940:000064) Physical-Event :
| long: 27 desti: 0 source: 0 cryst: 2 cpl: 6 us: 0 term: 0 type a5
| tei: 0 >>>> message received : SETUP ACK [0d] Call ref : 84 2c
|______________________________________________________________________________
|
| IE:[18] CHANNEL (l=3) a9 83 84 -> T2 : B channel 4 exclusive
| IE:[1e] PROGRESS_ID (l=2) 82 88
|______________________________________________________________________________

But the number presented as the calling cli is always the main billing no. for the outgoing cct.
I suspect this may be possible by modifying the NPI/TON settings, but I can't work out how.
Any Ideas? Thanks
(rel 8.01, UK system, T2 isdn)

your management is fine.

The providor needs to allow for you to send a non-geographic number (I assume you are in UK with an 0870 number like that).

Normally provider will only allow you to send a number within your (DDI) range or your billing number (the number which is stated on your usage bill)

Speak to your provider - good luck if it is BT (or any other of the useless shower of shi*s)

Thanks for the reply. I've already been down the BT route without success (no suprise there!)
The annoying thing is I know it's possible, I have a friend who is a home worker for BT, and when he makes a call from his home phone it sends an 0800 no. as the cli. :?

talk to ofcom and get them to confirm that it is allowed. Then go back to BT and tell them you've been on to god and god says yes!

They simply need to enable a transparent translation or to allow that number to be sent in their translation. I have many problems, too, in Romania when requesting these kind of things to TELCO.

Regards.

BT for some reason refuse to allow the use of any number other than ones assigned to trunks through them, citing OFCOM regulations. At one of my sites we use C&W, Telstra(UK) and BT, one E1 each. The BT line has the switchboard number (single number range) and both C&W and Telstra have DID ranges. We use C&W as our first choice route for outbound calls and they are happy to pass on any of our numbers as out bound caller ID. They just accepted our word we owned them.

Telstra also allow us to send any of our numbers, although we had to do to prove we owned them (under OFCOM rules), so we just sent them a copy of our BT and C&W bills.

But olde BT just refuse to allow any number other than their own to be passed on. They were citing OFCOM regulation, and when we pressed them further they said the only way we could present a C&W or Telstra number is if we transfered the numbers to them.

Anyway to cut a long story short, we are now in the process of cancelling the BT line and taking our number to Telstra.

That's retarded...If it's an 800 number that you own, that they are pointing to one of your local numbers, then what's the f*ing problem?

I'd tell BT where to stick it. Fortunately in the US, if you don't like your carrier, you have 4-5 others to choose from, not sure how that works in the UK.

it's similar in the UK Mr T. But changing providers is equally hard work. And then you got to consider costs and in many cases BT offer competitive pricing. Which then begs the question, how important is it for you to deliver such a CLI :shock:
