Call Deflection

Post by liverpool »

Hi Guys/gals..

I'm new to this forum and new to Alcatel so please bear with me. I have been unable to get the re-routing function to work on external diversions. My customer has subscribed to the BT call deflection on his ISDN2e, which I understand is all that is required from the network. The rerouting (aka deflection) is an extremely important function to prevent all channels being busy with external functions, and I feel sure that it must be supported (as the documentation says it is – see External Diversion section) by the U.K. OmniPCX.

The OmniPCX is a recent Compact model, running version 4.0.
What is supposed to happen is that when a call is made to a DDI that is currently diverted to an external number (e.g. homeworker), the OmniPCX deflects (reroutes) the call by signalling to the exchange so that the call is connected at the exchange (meaning no ISDN channels are used once connected) rather than joining the call in the OmniPCX (which would use two ISDN channels – one for the incoming call, and one for the outgoing to the temporary location). When set to joining mode, the external diversion works fine (but takes two channels as mentioned above). This does prove that all the permissions for external diversions are set correctly, so the problem must be down to the signalling between BT and the customer.

I really need advice on getting this function to work? Are any of you guys using this function in the UK?

Not sure about the UK, but here in Australia, it is exchnage dependant and Telstra (our BT) must activate the function.

Once this is done and the external diversion mode is set to re-route, it all works fine.

Maybe have a chat to BT and see if they have set up the ISDN correctly.
