SS7 Signalling Protocol

Post by aurelian_DUP »

Hi,

I want to know if Alcatel 4400 and OXE can act like gateways between SS7 and ISDN sigalling protocols because technical documentation is very poor for this subject.
I know that exist a PRA7 board for this purpose but I don't understand its role if it is necessary an external SS7/ISDN protocol converter like it is shown in PRA7 board presentation.
I know too that ss7stat command is for signalling chanels mapping but this subject remain very cloudy for me.
I'm waitting for your answers.

Regards,
Aurelian

The #7 feature is quite old (1998). The PRA7 board works with an external gateway to code / decode the #7 protocol. I do not know if this gateway is still in the Alcatel technical catalogue.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.
In my country SS7 is mandatory for the connection between telephony operators.
Of course the PRA7 or PRA SS7 board and the external gateway aren't in the Alcatel catalogue now but my client has a second-hand PRA7 board.
Do you know if that external gateway was a blackbox or an external application on PC?
I understand that the Alcatel 4400 makes only a SS7/ISDN mapping which is necessary because that external gateway has ISDN interfaces like in the technical description of PRA7 board, isn't it?

Aurelian
