USER->Analog type->no specific management

Hello,
On some of my analog lines are modems (alarm lines).
Till upgrade they worked fine with:
USER->Analog type->no specific management setting.
After upgrade some of them stopped working- they dial number, start communicate and then stop connection- without sending data.
I have change ports, equipments, replacing cards (to quite new eZ32)- no result.
Can you tell me if changing USER->Analog type->no specific management to i.e."Modem" or "Fax" can change something?
Of course I will try doing this, but all my modems worked just fine till upgrade time... so it looks strange
Are there any other settings I could try?
