remote mirroring port in ring network

Post by alex-65 »

Hello everyone
In a Ring network implemented by switches 6860 release 8.5, can I configure on a switch 6860 A a remote mirroring port to monitor the traffic which is passing through a port of the switch 6860 B installed in another remote site?
In Alcatel switch documentation is declared that to configure a remote mirroring port no one physical loop shall be introduced, is this constrain applicable even in case of ring network configuration?

never tested it with ERP. The reason for "no loop" is, that within the rpmir vlan all traffic will be forwarded without learning mac-addresses.
So I would recommend to create your rpmir vlan at all ERP ports but not at that both ports where the ring is per default blocked. So in case of no ring-error you can use remote mirroring.
best regards
